The Society's Financial Role ...by Dave Barker Since its incorporation in 1982, the West Vancouver Historical Society has played a significant financial role in preserving and publicizing West Vancouver's history. Back in 1992, the Society was the major force behind the raising of $500,00 to aid in the purchase of and renovation of Gertrude Lawson House as a Community Museum Since the, the society has raised funds for historical preservation projects through grants. In 2013, the Society set up a grant giving program using the funds generated by the publication of books on West Vancouver's history. These grants are awarded to community organizations whose projects preserve, protect, and make available to the community of West Vancouver, its history.
