Ihe proposal to increase the Second, Narrows Bridge tolls has raised a storm of protest througrhout the North ghore and quite rightly so. One would have thooight th a t th is north side of the Inlet hiad suffered enough from transporta tion difficulties bu t apparently dt is:not so. For several years following the accident to the Second Narrows Bridge we., were forced to depend wholly on the two ferry services, both excellent so ta r as they went, but totally inade<iuate to take care of, the demands made upon them. Meanwhile businesses closed their doors o r went bankrupt, residents and motorists suffered;daily much inconvenience re sulting in many moving to Vancouver,- and the tou ris t and holiday traffic sank to negligible proportions.
