Superintendent James Mitchell in his opening remarks outlined the scholarship which has been established by Mr. and Mrs. ,1. S tuart Brown and family to per petuate the memory of their son,' and invited Mrs. J. B. Leyland to unveil the beautiful bronze plaque, which was cohered by a silk Union Jack. Rev. Hillis W right was present and dedicat ed the memorial, while T rustee ' Donald MacTavish was most im pressive in accepting the beauti ful tablet on "behalf of the board of school trustees. - Pupils of Ian's grade in school and friends of the family who had gathered, to join in the ceremony stayed to admire the new-bronze, which has been en tirely constructed in Vancouver and is a masterpiece in desigii and appearance. I t occupies a central position in the hall lead ing to the auditorium and is simply inscribed. The scholar ship is incorporated in the tablet itself and takes the form ,of a medal Surrounded by a wreath of la.urel. T he, whole is /c a s t , bronze about a half inch thick and conveys the impression a t once of chaste simplicity, beauty p d permanence. I t is indeed a handsome addition to the decor ations of the building.
