Filled with delectable and useful things for Christmas, they present a very animated ap- pearance, carrying as they do, a much larger and more varied stock than in previous years. The people of IVest Vancouver are beginnin T to realise that the vn,lues in our local stores are just as good and often better than can be obtained in the city. Christmas and New Year gifts of every description and the fin- est of Christmas eatables, groc- eries, meats, and confections can be obtained right at your door without the trouble, worry, and inconvenience of shopping in a crowded store and of having to experience the rigors and dis- comforts of cold wet weather in travelling to and from the city laden with packages. It is a remarkable trait of some adults that, if some one of- fered them 25 cents to carry a parcel a few blocks, they would turn up their noses in disgust and their dignity would be mort- ally wounded. Yet the same people are perfectly willing and jovial about carrying a cumber- some parcel from the city in or- der to save less than this amount apart from the cost of this transportation to and fro. Be logical! Support home in- dustry! Help your own people! Buy in IVest Vancouver! You need the local stores and they need your custom. B. OF T. HOLD ilIEETING CASH and CARRY , fi eat, fi ar ieI: Zonin«and Building By-law At the board of trade meeting last iAIonday the special commit- tee appointed to study the build- ing and zoning by-laws made their report. Recommendations made by the members of that committ.e ivere freely discussed and arrangements made for re- presentations to be brought be- fore the members of the muni- cipal council with a view to hav- ing framed zoning and building by-laws more applicable and helpful to the district. There divas a distinct feeling amongst Board member that the law as at present hinders progress and de- velopmentt. The committee given this mat- ter to handle reported having interviewed the postal officials with a view to having the Itame changed from "EVadsley" to "EVestbay" or AVestbay Beach," and outlined the possibility of having this change come into effect. 4V. Clifford of )Vest Bay attended and turned over to the board a petition he had taken round to the residents of the district, and which carried 115 signatures, asking that such a change be made. This petition with a covering let- ter from the board of trade has been sent to the postal officials D. ROBERTS, Prop. D CRHR SuY YOuR. EVERY ERE Before buying your Xmas Poultry come in and see ours. Roberts'etter Meats Phone %Vest 190 Delivery Morning and A fter noon SCHOOL CONCERT IS BIG SUCCESS )Veil, parents, it's all over; but it was a grand and glorious suc- cess. Once again the school children have crowned them- selves with glory and this annual concert will go down to poster- ity as a huge success. The con- cert reQected great credit on both pupils and teachers. The auditorium of Inglewood school was crowded for the afternoon performance which was for the special benefit of those scholars not taking part in the program. There was an even greater crowd gathered for the evening per- formance when the parents of children, and other interested enjoyed an excellent program. They all carried out their parts in a really excellent manner and it would be invidious to make special mention of any particu- lar item. But we must confess that the group singing was to us specially delightful, but so was the dancing. Scrooge's Christmas and the wax work show were both much appreciat- ed by the audience. It was an excellent concert and the audience thoroughly enjoyed it. So evidently did the children themselves. The teachers and instructors rriust have been well pleased with the result Carrying a petition signed by Afty taxpayers of IVestVancouver, representative of the whole district from Capilanoto 8'hytecliff, a delegation waited upon Reeve Vinson last6'ednesday evening urging him to again be a candidate for theoffice of Reeve of the Municipality. &Iembers of the delegation pointed out that Mr. Vinsonhad the confidence of the people, and that at this stage ofthe municipality's development it was necessary for its welfarethat a man of experience be at its head, one who had anintimate knowledge of the various important questions to bebrought up in the near future and to complete the negotiationsfor present developments. Air. Vinson stated in reply that he had given much of histime to municipal matters and his own inclination was tolet some other wear the harness. His business and his home hadbeen neglected because of demands upon his time for munici-pal affairs. Later ihlr. Vinson agreed, on the insistence of the delega-tion, to allow his name to go forward, but stated that he wouldhave no time for any strenuous electioneering and that if thepeople wished him to continue as Reeve for another year theywould have to elect him of their own volition as he couldnot pursue an active campaign.
