The regular bi-weekly meeting was held in the Legion Hall on Friday, March 24th, at 7 p.m. with Mark Phillips in the chair. The monopolizing of the re- stricted hour and a half session by minor irrelevant matters, pre- cluded any discussion or action on the all-important business of the local application of the Jones Scale to all relief recipients, much to the disappointment of the unusuauy large number of members present. However, a special meeting dealing solely with the Jones Scale will be held on Friday, March 31st, at 8 p.m. in the Socialist Hall in the 1400 block Marine Drive. Everyone who is now on, or is only temporarily otf, relief and nobody else, is requested to at tend 2nd insure the revelation of the real will, work or no work, of relief recipients as a whole. For four and one-half hours after the meeting last Friday, Tom Smith, Tom Irwin, Grant McNeil and the Childs'Lowe music ensemble put the "Pover- ty Frolic" over in a big way to the large crowd. X. Hodgson, as- sisted by male soloists and chorus, was a great success, the house being full both nights. A substantial sum was realized for the West Vancouver Welfare Association and the Boys'and, to whom part of the proceeds were given. The excellency of the whole production showed that a great deal of time 2nd trouble had been spent on the various num- bers, both by Mrs. F. X. Hodg- son and D. D. Sharp, stage man- ager, as well as by the individual actors and cihorus. The stage decorations and lighting in charge of J. E. Durbin, J. Tred- gold and A. J. Gleam, were very pretty, as were the costumes, for which Mrs. Gleam was re- sponsible, the make-up being in the dhands of Edgar Smith. Able assistance was given by a string orchestra under the direction of Mrs. F. Knight-Hodge, Mrs. J. E, Durbin acting as accompanist. Patronize those who adverti- in this issue. K.W.
