CORRFtIPONDENCE The Editor, West Vsn News, V Hollyburn, B. C. Sir:--Before the first meeting on the new Board of School Trustees, this Poet of the Can- adian Iwgion, asked Mr. Ken- drick, the chairman, if he would, as a gesture towards individuals having no jobs, consider the claims of unemployed ex-service men when making the annual appointment of a Secretary. His evasive reply being considered unsatisfactory, this Post pressed the matter further. We pointed out to the School Board Chairman, that, )udging from the number of applications for Municipal Identificatio Slips issued in connection with the work on the Hill, we must have in this Municipality well over 400 male residents unemployed, also numerous youths, girls and women, and in view of this seri- ous situation this Post consider- ed it was making a very reason- able request when they asked these people'0 claims for 0 job be considered prior to any indiv- idual already holding a salaried position. We further asked that special consideration be accorded to veterans disabled in the service of our Country, and those who as 0 result of war services, are unable to compete in the more robust walks of life, amongst whom there are many qualified to fill the Secretarial position. The Board's reply, Mr. Editor, is that they have decided to carry on with the same arrange- ment as before, which means the job goes once again to 0 man already holding 0 salaried posi- tion.
