In a regular league fixture at Ambleside Park Monday, West Vancouver Rangers downed United 4-1. There was a good turnout of spectators and the teams put up a fast game. The Rangers opened the scor- ing early in the first half when Lennox caught the ball on the goal line and centred to A. Mas- terman, who headed a nice goal. R. Cripps made it 2-0 for the Rangers soon after when he placed the ball well out of reach of the goalie. The bullheads also were having a fine feast of dead worms in his in- undated garden. u ~ u There will be extra boats on New Year's Eve, one at 12:30 a.m. (midnight) from Amble- side, and one leaving ihe city at 1 a.m. Next Sunday (New Year's Dsy) ferries will leave Ambleside at 7 R.m 8 a.m„and thereafter every half hour until 11&30 p.m. They will leave the city dock at 7:30 a.m., 8&30 a,m„and half hourly thereafter until 12 mid- night. Next Monday, the day after New Year', a half hourly ser- vice will be maintained through- out the dsy. The first boat «ill leave Ambleside at 7 a.m. snd the last at 12 midnight. BEAVI~ The death of Mrs. May Oc- tavia Beavis, 64, of 2710 Belle- vue Avenue, wife of Captain Besvis, occurred early yester- day morning in the North Van- couver General hospital after an illness of more than two years. Eighth daughter of b)r. and Mrs. A. Newman of Kent, she came to Vancouver in 1911. She was an active Conservative in politics. She is survived by her husband snd daughter, Peggy Elizabeth, snd one brother and five sisters.
