The new service has been established by the North-west Telephone Company, an associ- ate of the B. C. Telephone Com- pany. A 300-mile radio link between Prince George and the North- west Telephone Company's radio station at Campbell River gives the northern town connection to the B. C. Telephone Company's longAistance system and thus to the world-wide telephone net- work, consisting of over 30,000,- 000 telephones. Prince George is the fourth British Columbia community to receive long-distance telephone serrice by means of a radiotele- phone link. Powell River wss first served by radio, but this was later replaced by 0 submar- ine cable. It was moved and adopted that the Chapter assist the Girl Guides with their annual Toy Shop at Xmas time The Girl Guide committee was enlarged when several of the members volunteered to help with the toys and with other matters in connection with guide work. The convener of the Hospital Committee reported that the Community Players had enter- tained the patients of Shaugh- nessy Hospital with their recent play, the chapter providing the refreshments. Several members of the Chapter also visited the Hospital on the occasion of the birthday of one of the patients with presents. An afghan knitted by the J)&embers is to be raifled at our n&adt %06thfk 6&I T)e&e?abbr 5th. Tickets 10 cents. The afghan will be shown in the window of the Gwendolyn Beauty Shop during the month.
