This satisfactory condition was revealed to the Legislature by Premier Tolmie when he tabled the P.G.E. accounts for 19SO. These showed that the gross revenue for 1930 was 8480,070, as against 6561,274 in 1929, a decrease of 881,204. Gross Expenses for last 'ear were 8536,887, as against 8617,- 119, a decrease of 881,232. In spite of reduced cost of op- eration on the P.G.E., found necessary in view of decline in traffic, roadbed and equipment have been well maintained. There was no curtailment of train service during 1930. Construction of permanent and semi-permanent work to re- place wooden structures built in the construction of the rail- way and which had reached the end of their utility, cost 8418,- 764. Economies making up the de- creased cost of operation of 881,- 232, as compared with the pre- ceding year, were effected in all departments. In maintenance of way and structures there was 6 reduction in cost of 841,430; maintenance of equipment, 821v. 168; transportation, 817 915. and generalexpenses, 8718. Not- withstanding the less expensive cost of operation, roadbed, roll- ing stock and equipment, snd buildings and structures have been maintained in 6 highly sat- isfactory state, and there was no curtailment of train service dur- ing the year. HARBOR BOARD HAS BOUGHT CAR FERRY The car ferry which was brought here 6 few days ago from San Francisco 'has been accepted by the Harbor Board. It is understood that the pur- chase price is in the neighbor- hood of 825,000. The govern- ment tugboat Point Grey will be placed in commission to handle the barge on the trans-Inlet ser- vice. Pending construction of a slip on this side of the Inlet, the Harbor Board is carrying on as in the past, with a service pro- vided by Canadian Pacific Rail- way tug and car ferry. It is expected that this service will continue for the next three weeks, by which time the board will have its own equipment ready.
