Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites. Cook in a wefl-greed waffle iron. To make rice waffles, add I cupful rice to the above mixture. To make rice and cornmeal waffles, use I/2 cup flour, I/2 cup cornmeal and I cup boiled rice in place of the 1'/2 cups flour. On Monday evening the Young People's Society will meet at the residence of Mrs. George Bell, 2495 Jefferson Avenue, at 8 o'lock. The topic for the evening is "Japan." A paper will be presented by liIiss Ililda Wag- staff. At the close the usual half hour of sociability will take place. The topics being discussed by Dr. Henry at the Wednesday evening gathering for prayer and meditation are some of the great texts. This week the text is the great classic "The Eternal God is thy Refuge and under- neath are the Everlasting arms." This will be followed by "Choose ye this day whom ye will serve." At the regular monthly meet- ing of the 1Vomen's Association on Tuesday arrangements were made for the next Men's Club banquet which will be addressed by Rev. Dr. Brewing who has lately come to the pastorate of the United St. Andrews-Wesley Church. Also notice is given of a daifodil tea next month. On the 19th of this month the )V. A, will entertain the choir. The W. A. is seeking to visit strangers and new arrivals in the district. Much appreciation is felt for the fine work this so- ciety is doing. There is considerable need at the present time. Those who may have or know of any dsy'9 work for men or women will do a fav- or by communicating with either Mrs. Merrick or Dr. Henry. On Friday evening the annual Mother and Daughter banquet was held under the auspices of the C.G.I.T. Mrs. W. T. Rush and Miss Jean McLaren were in charge of the arrangements and are to be congratulated on the fine program. The usual toasts to Mothers and Daughters and Church were given and respond- ed to. The general theme was "Mothers and Daughters on the Quest for Life." Short address- es were given on the four ideas --The Quest of Beauty; The Quest of Knowledge; The Quest of Service; and the Quest of Jesus. M ss Anne Fountain, the Field Secretary of the C.G.I.T. move- ment in the Province, was the special speaker and with her earnest words got very near to the hearts of both mothers and daughters. On Thursday evening at the regular meeting of the Literary Club a paper was read by the Vice-President, Mr. Jas. Duncan on "Some architectural features of Venice." It was beautifully illustrated by lantern slides pro- vided by hlr. J. Porter. The literary club although meeting in the lower hall of the United Church is a community venture and is open to all inter- ested in literary matters. There is no fee and no conditions of membership except literary tastes. A letter of W. J. Cliiford was referred by the council to the clerk to report on the ownership of Ii,i 557-8 and 10.
