Three neiv pupils have enrolled for the new term. The High School basketball teams are practising constantly as the League games begin at the end of next week. Birthday I'arty 51rs. P. C. Chapman gave a party on Saturday evening at her home on King's Avenue in honor of her son James'eventeenth birthday. The young people thoroughly enjoyed themselves at dancing and games. Supper was served during the evening. THE AVEST VAN NESVS LEGION TO HOLD iIEETING The regular monthly meeting of the IVest Vancouver branch of the Canadian Legion will be held at the I.egion rooms tonght (Frida& ) at s.30 p. m. A number of matters v:ill come up for dis- cussion, including the question of building a permanent meeting house for the branch in view of the council's generous offer to sell a suitable piece of property for this purpose at a nominal price. Every member therefore, is urged to make a special effort to be present. Council Notes A letter from Miss A. Clarke wrote asking ivhen the road in Cypress Park on the west side of the Creek was to be hard surfaced and that he understood some of the lanes in the district had been hard sur- faced. He was advised no lanes have been nard surfaced, and that his request had been refer- red to the incoming council. A petition signed by E. Harris and twelve others ivas received asking for a concrete sideivalk from a poi»t starting at the south-west corner of 11th Av.. and Keith Road and continuing westward on the south side of Keith Road to the junction of Marine Drive. The matter was referred to the incoming council. The Reeve and chairman of the board of works were appoint- ed a committee to intervieiv the contractors and the consulting engineer on the question of the economy of crushed rock in con- tract No. 46A, AIarine Drive. A letter ivas received from Q. L. Boivman and four others ask- ing for the removal of the syren on Ambleside Dock. The matter ivas referred to the chairman of the transportation committee ivith poiver to act. The engineer was instructed to communicate with G. S. Hanes re J. H. i41ilne's services. R. Silva white asked for a cul- vert on the North side of Marine Drive betiveen 25&h and 26th Streets. His request was refer- red to the engineer for his report. i~Ir.
