Horticultural Show is Big Success Prize AUinners The Horticultural Association exhibition, held last Saturday, was a decided success, not only in the number and quality of the exhibits, but also in the re- cord number of visitors. It was adjudged on all sides as the best show ever held in )Vest Vancou- ver. The exhibits were judged as nearly as possible according to the new standard rules of judg- ing set by the provincial gov- ernment authorities. Captain Ian Mackenzie, N.L. A., opened the show at 3:30 and made a verv interesting address, in which he pointed out the need for a community hall in )Vest Vancouver, using as an illustra- tion the crowded manner in which the splendid exhibits at the show had to be shown. AIiss Frame acted as pianist during the afternoon. The association is indebted to the United Church for the loan of tables and trestles and ex- pressed their appreciation of the services of A. H. Albin for the beautiful sheaves of corn which decorated the hall, and J. B. Leyland, who so kindly loaned his car and his services in driv- ing the judges around to the various boulevards. The prizes were presented on Tuesday evening. There being a good attendance on that occa- sion, President John Nyland opened the meeting with a few 1&marks anent the show and the v-ork of the association. This was followed bv the presenta- tion of prizes by AIrs. G. D. Elgar. During the evening the chairman of each section gave a brief talk based on the judges'emarksand the awarding of the prizes. The following were heard: Mr. N. Raine, vegetable section; AIrs. F. Lefeaux, flow- ers; AIr. AV. J. Clifford, fruits; Mrs. G. D. Elgar, domestic science; Mrs. P. T.
