RON E R E PRES EN TATI VE V ADDRESSES LEGION F. J. Townsend of Vancouver, zone representative, was present at the regular monthly meeting of the Canadian Legion in the Legion rooms, on Wednesday night, and gave a very interest- ing address on matters relative to the ivork of the organization generally. He referred to the big convention of the British Empire Service League, of v:hich the Canadian Legion is a part, and which was recently held in London, ivith the Prince of EVales in the chair. At this convention General Dawes of the American Legion made his first o ficial appearance in England. He spoke of the good work which was being done by the B. E. S. L. in the interests of world peace and empire settlement. He touched briefly on the Legion convention this year in Toronto, and reported on avhat had been done at the B. C. convention, held this summer in Chililwack, at which he had been the represent- ative of the local branch. A res- olution had been passed looking towards certain improvements in the Pension Act, which would be sent to the Dominion Com- mand in November. They had been able to do considerable for the ex-service men with the fed- eral and provincial governments and he emphasized the necessity of the Legion taking their part in the life of the community. The question of obtaining funds to complete the new meet- ing house was very thoroughly gone into, and it is hoped to finally settle the matter at a meeting to be held next Monday night, 9th instant, in the Legion rooms, at which every member is specially requested to be present. The applications of two ex- service men for membership ~vere received and accepted. Oh, Oh, Oh! "Do you know, dear," said Ed- ith to her friend, "that when I dance with Jack it just seems as if he will dance me straight to Heaven?" "Really," replied Constance, "doesn't he ever reverse?"
