Clean 1 small lamb shank cover with cold water and cook slowly. EVhen boiling add the barley. Prepare 2 sprigs parsley 2 branches celery, 1 carrot, 1 small turnip, a few green peas and a few green beans, and 1 po- tato and add these with salt to the soup. Cook slowly 3 or 4 hours. There is divine service at St Francis'hurch, Caulfeild, Sun- day at 3 p.m. MAPLE SYRUP PIE Spiced Currant Jelly 8 cups strained currant juice 8 cups sugar 2 cups vinegar 1,8 tspn peppel. 1 tablespoon each cloves, cin- namon, nutmeg and allspice. After extracting the currant juice in the ordinary way, add the other ingredients and boil quickly until a little chilled on a plate will jelly. Turn into ster- ilized jars and seal. Good with meat and game. 2 eggs 1 cup maple syrup I,~ cup water 2 tablespoons flour. Lump of butter, the size of an &gg. 3Iix all ingredients thorough- ly, (using only yolks of eggs. Keep whites for meringue). Cook in double boiler. Fill your baked crust. Cover with mer- ingue and brown. The monthly meeting of the church committee will be held Monday in the Parish Hall at 8 p. m. Friday evening, April 12th, at 8.15 o'lock a concert will be given in the Parish Hall by Miss Evelyn williams and party of Vancouver, under the auspices of the choir and in aid of the organ fund. Musical Festival it is doubtful whether any hold so general an interest as those be- tween the various Public School C'hoirs. This class of competition lias steadily increased since the inauguration of the Festival, and the present entries for the Mus- ical Festival, to be held May 1 to 11, reach the record total of 121 choirs of all grades. This shows an advance of more than twenty entries over last year. Incident- ally, the B. C. Musical Festival exhibits the finest school sing- ing on any I estival in the Do- minion.
