Splendid Educational Facilities in West Van The value, importance and progressiveness of a district is always reflected in its educa- tional institutions. AVest .Van- couver is therefore in a very happy position. The develop- ment of educational facilities is one of the remarkable features of our growth. Several public schools and a High School offer opportunities which it is diffi- cult to improve upon anywhere. Besides these, however, there is going on another process by which the district's importance is growing, i.e., the establish- ment of many private schools and classes for all branches of education -- scholastic, music and arts. It is a distinct sur- prise to the strangers who come to visit us to learn of the many and varied classes of instruction to be found in our midst, and of the very high standard of the instructors. I'erhaps no other place in Canada of its size can bomt of so many and such out- standing teachers as is found it& IVest Vancouver Kindergarten, lfoys'chools, Girls'chools. The curriculum of t h e s e schools is very wide, and we would draw your special atten- tion to the opportunities a:ord- ed you in AVest Vancouver. She entered the ivater at Point Atkinson at 3:50 p.m. and ar- rived at Dundarave Pier at 6:50, having to swim against the tide for over two hours. She was not tired after her effort, but said the water was very cold and the tide was very strong. She was accompanied by a boat manned by Laurie Speck, Smiler Mills, her niece and Miss Strong. There are over thirty mem- bers of the club who are going to take in the winter swimming at the Memorial Tank this win- ter. Quite a good winter season is expected, and, if possible, the club will join the Mainland Swimming League and hold competitive galas with the Van- couver A. S. C., Varsity S. C., Meralomas, "Y," and other clubs. This will give our swimmers the needed experience for open competition, and in a sho14 while it is hoped the club will be look- ed upon as an asset to AVest Vancouver and swimmers all over the Lower Mainland. If anyone is interested in their effort to provide winter sivimming, will they kindly com- municate with the secretary, G. Vance, Dundarave P.O.
