The lawn, with its shade trees and flowers, made an at- tractive setting for the luncheon table, which was prettily ar- ranged with pink sweet peas and gypsophila. Mrs. W. L. Ross as- sisted the hostess. A pleasing feature of the oc- casion was the presentation of a filagree silver flower basket fill- ed with La France roses to the president, Mrs. V. R. Timms, the day marking her twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Arrange- ments were made for the annual picnic to be held at Bowen Isl- and yesterday. Others present were Mrs. F. M. Mackenzie, Mrs. N. Beach, Mrs. J. Tudhope, Mrs. D. Shearer, iAIrs. A. Bunch, Mrs. J. Shade, Mrs. J. Townley, Mrs. R. Murphy, Mrs. J. Hardy, Mrs. R. Hermon and Mrs. AV. Urqu- hart. EGGS IS EGGS Talking of eggs, Mrs. Steven- son, 12th and Marine Drive, has a Rhode Island Red hen which contracted the habit some time ago of laying double yolk eggs and has persisted ever since in doing so. Recently she outdid herself by laying an egg contain- ing three yolks which was 8t/q inches long and 6~/q inches in cir- cumference. We do not know whether her capacity will con- tinue to increase, but ive under- stand that already the ostriches in South Africa are beginning to sit up and take notice. "I tell you, sir, I have played in all the largest theatres in Europe." "Yes, sir, why in America we have theatres so big that when a man in the back seat throws an egg, it hatch- es out; before it reaches the stage." COOL DRINKS FOR HOT DAYS Hot days demand cool drinks.
