EVare, 22nd and Lawson, returned on wednesday morn- ing from Victoria where he had gone to attend the funeral of his father. The Naomi Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, gave a farewell party at their rooms on Tuesday evening for Mrs. David Gillette, who with her husband and fam- ily iq leaving AVest Vancouver shortly to take up their residence in New westminster. Mr. Gil- lette is now on the staff of the Canadian National Railway. Nrs. Gordon Robson and daughter, 29th and Marine Drive are in Victoria visiting Mrs. Claire Downing. At the )Vest Vancouver police court on Friday, AV. A. Jackson of Vancouver was fined $25 for speeding, and Frank Willis of the city was fined $5 for not having a driver's card. A fine of $25 was imposed on Eddie Trumper, also of the city, under the liquor act. Nrs. Montgomery, Haywood Ave. and 25th, has taken the Hastings'ouse on Bellevue and is moving in shortly. Mr. Owen AVoodward, son of Nr. and Mrs. Reginald AVood- ward, 24th and Haywood, is leaving for San Francisco at the end of the month, en route to Ceylon, where he w'll reside. DEATH OF HENRY WARE The death occurred in Victoria last Friday of Henry Ware, fath- er of H. G. Ware, 22nd and Law- son, and of Nrs. R. Holden, 23rd and Argyle. The deceased, who was in his 81st year, went to Victoria 40 years ago from Lon- don, Ontario, and had resided in the capital city ever since. In addition to his son and daughter here, he is survived by his wife, who lives in Victoria, and anoth- er son, F. H., who is a resident of Vancouver. Miss Helen Blundell AValsh of Calgary, Alberta, is the guest of her aunt, Miss N. Blundell and Miss Ethel M. Armstrong, 23rd Street and 5Iarine Drive. Dr. F. E. Dorchester returned yesterday after a successful lec- turing tour through the Middle )Vest. On special invitation he delivered a second lecture in Cal- gary on his return trip. LEGION TO HOLD SAIOKER The annual general meeting and election of officers of the )Vest Vancouver branch of the Canadian Legion takes place to- night (Friday) at 8 p.m. in Dun- darave Hall, to be followed by a smoker at 9 p. m. An excellent programme has been arranged, included in which it is hoped to have 3 boxing bouts, for which .Reeve Vinson has kindly con- sented to act as referee. DOMINION DAY SPORTS ON NORTH SHORE The North Shore Dominion Day celebration committee decid- ed to hold a monster street par- ade in connection with the July 1 celebration, and a number of val- uable prizes have been offered for the best floats and decorated automobiles in the parade. Seven major events will com- prise the sports list for adults and which will be run off at Ma- hon Park oval, and in connection with the adults'ports, the com- mittee plans to bring to North Vancouver on Dominion Day a number of this province's fore- most track and field exponents. The children's sports list will in- clude fifteen events. The next meeting of the com- mittee will be held in the City Hall on Wednesday evening, June 20, at 8 o'lock, and repre- sentatives of all North Shore organizations are requested to attend to assist in the arranging of the programme for Dominion Day.
