THE AUEST VAN NEREUS THE bfAN IS POOR The man is poor who gets out of tune with his environment, when his friends have lost confidence in him, when he has but dark pwtures on the walls of his inner life, when his character is diseased, and dishonest tricks of evasion dominate his heart and soul. He is poor, indeed, when he puts something over on h~ &riends at the expense of his charac.:.-, when the Golden Rule ceases to d...ct his thoughts or his everyday actions. When a man's character is spotted by dirty tricks of his own conceiving. he has little of this world's possessions. If he maintains his integrity. keeps his character unblemished and square to the world, he is not poor, even though hunger is staring him in the face and he has no place to lay his head. "Sedentary work," said the college lecturer, "tends to lessen the endur- ance.'In other words," interrupted the smart student, "the more one sits the less one can stand." "Exactly," retorted the lecturer; "and if one lies a great deal one' standing is lost completely." From the Bark Seat The cuckoo that sits on the back seat and tells you how to negotiate the old chariot ain't the only backseat drivers, observed Cash bfiller, cigar store philosopher. This country is full of back-seat reformers that wants to dictate to a guy how to raise his children, lick his dog, go to church. run his business and think.--Thrift Magazine. f OR SALE--Nice Cottage on Fine large lot. By the use of COLFIX all these disadvantages are overcome. Road repairs can be effected throughout the twelve months, instead of being confined to four. Moreover the repair is made so that no bump is left on the road surface, the patch ironing out to the existing road level. Owing to the qualities of COLFIX repairs effected with it do not bleed or push in summer, nor do they become brittle and glassy in winter. The system is applicable to potholes, cracks, trench fillings, water and wheel tracks in all kinds of road surfaces. It is of interest to note that we are able to use our material in the tropics and in Scandinavia with equal success which proves our claim that with COLFIX there is no possible danger of picking up or bleeding, the first stages of skiddy and unsafe roads. The COLFIX road remains as laid, and, if the correct materials have been used, perfect travel under all conditions is ensured. COLFIX will achieve better results than an equal quantity of hot material, while success is possible with COLFIX under almost any weather conditions, and even distribution is positive. COLFIX gives an elastic surfac~it does not flow, wave or break away on the edges. Hot asphalt coming in contact with the cold road causes condensation between the asphalt film and the road material unless the work is carried on under ideal conditions it is found to pick up under traffic conditions. In other words, the adhesion is not perfect, consequent- ly the coating in the aggregate or surfacing material cracks and in com- paratively short time potholes form and the road disintegrates in spite of the constant patching. COLFIX can be obtained in barrels, so that garden paths, tennis courts, playgrounds or other small areas can be inexpensively treated. As no plant is required, all that is necessary is a bucket and a brush. The work can be done by unskilled labor under any weather conditions. THE GREAT NORTH ROAD, leading out of London, at High Barnet, IVHICH CARRIES the Heaviest Traffic of any Road Leading Out of London IS A COLFIX ROAD. Every County in England is using COLFIX. ~ 5 Patro e Home Industry .. ie ~ o .ix ..'ac:ory is in .Ior:i (anconver Offices 570 Dunsmuir Street, Vancouver ~-
