Garthorne's application to have a culvert placed at 22nd and Marine Drive in order to provide access to the new service station he is building, was granted by the council on condition that the work do not cost more than $50. Stone of Caulfeild, cnm- plained to the council of the prac- tice of sticking signs on the watchman's house on the Capil- ano bridge, also of the custom of 3 garages of painting signs on the rocks, all of which, he claimed, took away from the beauty of the surrounding scen- ei~. The council advised him that the signs on the watchman' house would be removed, and that the garages would be in- structed to wash out the signs on the rocks as soon as Marine Drive was in a less dangerous condition and cars less likely to require towage.
