Miss Minnie Atkinson and Miss Margaret Thompson of the city spent the week-end at Mrs. Harvey's new home "Arbutus Cottage" at Caulfeild. Sidney Lambert wrote the council complaining of the un- sanitary and unsightly condition of the lane in Block 14, D.L. 237 owing to the dumping of garbage and tin cans. The municipal engineer was instructed to have the lane cleaned up and signs nailed up prohibiting such dump- ing. EV. S. Phillips asked the coun- cil to have Oxley Street opened up from Lot 3, Block 19, D. I.. 558, Ei/&, The question was re- ferred to the municipal engineer to report the cost of having such work done. Work on the new store block being erected by Mr. Messenger on his property at 16th and Mar- ine Drive is proceeding apace. Fred Tite, 15th and Marine Drive, who has been suffering from a bad case of blood poison- ing in his left arm underwent an operation on Sunday to relieve the swelling. The operation was quite successful and the arm is now much improved. Wvo new Indian motorcycles were received on Monday for the police department and are now in use. They are of the latest design two-cylindered, and are equip- ped with brakes on the front and rear wheels. Mrs. Boyd returned on Sunday to her home at 21st and Argyle from the North Vancouver Gen- eral Hospital, bringing with her her new baby girl. Mr. and Nrs. D. Priestman and family of North Vancouver, have taken one of the Mackenzie cot- tages at Sandy Cove for the sum- mer. BIRTHDAY BEACH PARTY One of the earliest beach par- ties of the season was held at Sandy Cove Saturday week, when Mrs. Bernard Hayes, West Bay, entertained in honor of her daughter Wendell's birthday.
