C. 5IUSICAL FESTIVAL St. Stephen's Church 22nd sti eet near Ma»ne Investing $5.00 in the hlusical Festival Every time you attend a first class concert it costs you--how much? And how many of these conceits could you attend solely on the strength of a $5.00 bill? Not very many. Now, here is a way of laying out that $ 5.00 bill in a thorough- ly practical way, which will stamp you as interested in your community, and at the same time give you music worth many times five dollars. Buy a sub- scriber's pass for the B. C. Mus- ical Festival, May 7th to 12th. For this moderate investment --and it is an investment which will repay both you and your community hundreds per cent- you can attend all or any of the forty sessions of the Festival. Here there will be over nine hun- dred events embracing over six thousand competitors, and besid- es hearing these, you will get the opinions of five first class adjudicators and you will be int- erested and instructed to many times the cost. That is what you yourself get, and you are not the only bene- ficiary, for the community gets its great musical organization-- which is pledged to the better- ment of musical conditions and the education of youthful aspir- ants in the art--feeling five dol- lars stronger because you have done your share. Columns would be required to tell of the amount of good ac- complished by the EIusical Fes- tival during the past five years since it came under the wing of the Knights of Pythias as a community service. But enough is said in the fact that this work is being done for the good of the district. But financial support, in the final analysis, must come from the people who see in it a sufficient warrant for that sup- port; without it the Festival could not exist and Vancouver would be immediately the poor- el'.. Ostensibly, then, it is a com- munity effort in which every member of the community must give a helping hand. The work needs your help; it makes a per- sonal appeal to you as one who wishes to see the prestige of the city raised higher. Let us all, therefore, do what we can to help it along. And the easiest way is by buying a Subscriber's Pass for $ 5.00, which may be obtained from Mr. J. H. Smith, 20th and Haywood, )Vest Van- couver (phone West 650L), or from the Secretai~, Mr. Sam A.
