Whimsical Review The pompous man demanded: 'Is this a first-class restaurant?' "Oh, yes," answered the wait er, "but we don't mind serving you." * * * Wife: "I wasn't anxious to marry you. I refused you six times." Husband: "Yes, and then my luck gave out." * * * "Oh, George, I've been stung by a bee! What shall I do?" "Put some ammonia on it!" "But it's gone!" * * * Aunt: "Did I hear you greet your friend with 'Hullo, old Rip' ? I don't think it's very nice." Niece: "No, no, not 'Rip' -- 'Rep.' Such a mouthful to sap reptile every time." * * * Lady (to loafer who has asked for money): "You'll spend it, I suppose, instead of giving it to your wife." Loafer: "I ain't got a wife, lady, I'm earning my own liv ing." * * * Charlie: "Why do you call this a map of the world? I thought it was a photograph of your sweetheart." Clarence: "It is. She is all the world to me." * * * "The human anatomy is a wonderful piece of mechanism," remarked the professor. "Yes," replied the student, "pat a man on the back and you will make his head swell." * * * She was insisting he should be a punter no longer. "But let me back just one more horse," he pleaded. "I promise you it will be the last." "It always is," she retorted. * * * The Vicar: "How did you like my sermon, Mrs. Brown?" "It was splendid, Mr. Smith! It was always my favorite ser mon since I was a little girl. And I think by omitting that long bit in the middle it was greatly im proved." * * * "It that all the work you can do in an hour?" asked a Negro's employer as he surveyed the scanty result of his new man's labor. "Well, sah," said Sam, "I dus- say I could do moh'--but, believe me, I nevah was one for showin' off." * * * "I have come to ask you if you will subscribe to this deserving charity." "Certainly. I will give you a cheque now. Here you are." "You have forgotten to sign it." "I know--I want to remain an- nonymous." . * * * A recent advertisement in the personal column of a provincial newspaper evoked a kindly re sponse in the same column two days later: "Party that lost purse con taining $500 need worry no long er; it has been found." * * * "Are all those your kids?" "Yep, I'm the goat." * * * "What have you got in that valice?" "Nothing of the sort." * * ♦ "And have you any brothers ?" "Three--two living and one married." * * * He was only a fireman's son, but he knew a good thing in hose when he saw it. ♦ * * She: "Sir, I want you to know that I am a lady." He: "Oh, awright. You be that, and I'll try to imitate Na poleon." R. P. CLARK & Co. Ltd. TW O 66-ft. LOTS in Rood convenient residen tia l location looking south, fo r $500 each o r term s.
