Pretious, 15th and Esquimau, had the misfortune to lose her flock of 62 valuable Leghorn hens last Thursday week. These birds were valued by her at $200. From the re port given it would seem that some small dog had forced the wire at the base and had invi I- ed the chicken house during the night, killing the entire flock with the exception of two small pullets which had flown over the door for safety. Mrs. Pretious is sure the maurauder was a dog as the teeth marks on the dead birds were quite distinct, each of the victims being bitten in the hack. The loss is a very keen one, as the owner practical ly made her livlihood from these birds. A letter has been sent to the council by Mrs. Pretious regarding the matter, and they have referred the matter to the police commissioners. There was a rumor that the damage had been caused by a mink, but this Mrs. Pretious states positively was not so.
