McGowan's Fishing Competition II. McGowan, proprietor of the Anibleside Tea Rooms, an nounces the opening of his an nual salmon fishing competition. This is the sixth year during which this competition has been thrown open to the public. The date is from 1st instant to 31st October, and as in previous years the first prize is a $5 gold fob and the second prize a $2.50 gold fob. The salmon must be caught on rod or troll between the Capi lano lighthouse and Dundarave Pier, and there are no entrance fees. Last year Chas. Dodds, of Vancouver, won first prize, with a salmon weighing 20 1-2 pounds, and A. Chilton, the sec ond prize, with a 13 pound sal mon. Picnic at Whytecliff The annual picnic of the Van couver Widows, Wives and Moth ers of Great Britain's Heroes As sociation was held yesterday aft ernoon at Whytecliff at the summer camp of one of the members, Mrs. Agnes Johnstone. * * * Mr. and Mrs. T.
