VYVYAN RESCIIES I.IGHT KEEI'Eit DICKINSON Caught in a swirling tide rip when his rowboat overturned off East Beach, Thursday afternoon, Alfred Dickinson, lighthouse- keeper for the Canadian govern- ment at the First Narrows, prob- ably owes his life to the prompt action of Frank Vyvyan and Mrs. Vyvyan. Dickinson, with another man, was rowing in a light boat some distance from the beach when a heavy wave upset the craft and threw the occupants into the water. The second man proved an able swimmer, but Dickinson immediately got into difficulties. Vyvyan, who lives on the beach, observed the plight of the hghthouse-keeper, and with his wife, manned a boat and went to the rescue. With some difficul- ty they managed to take Dick- inson aboard. Dickinson suffered greatly from exposure and was removed to his home. Frank Vyvyan is well known to Vancouver theatregoers.
