A series of fifty slides deal- ing with the life of Burns, which were of great biographical iter- est, were shown by Mr. J. Porter of West Vancouver, at the meet- ing of the Burns Fellowship So- ciety held in Vancouver city last Monday. The slides were all ar- ranged and edited by Mr. Porter. W. J. Turnbull and twelve other residents presented a pe- tition to the council on Monday night asking that Fulton Street be pened from 14th Street east. O. B. A. BASKETBALL On Wednesday night an inter- estmg game of basketball was played between North Vancou- ver and West Vancouver in the new gymnasium. North Va'n. started at a fast pace scoring 10 points without 0 reply. The loc-'ls ca)lee) time out and on re- sumption of play more than held their own, the first half ending 18 to 12 in favor of North Van. In the second half the visitors used their height and weight to good advantage, the Anal score being 38 to 18. The following players made up the West Vancouver team: Bert Ridley, Chuck Burns, Bill Davie, George Gray, Harry Dick- son, J. Condon. Two games will probably be played next Wednesday, start- ing at 8 o'lock, when it is hoped 0 good crowd will be on hand. Hold Dance Next Wednesday. The regular meetmg will be held in Dundarave Hall next Wednesday, March 14th, instead of Thursday. The meeting will be at 7.30 p.m. and will be fol- lowed by a dance. Follow- ing her Miss Joan Durbin, cap- tain of the 2nd West Vancouver Co., Girl Guides, read a moat en- thusiastic report of the dnings and prospects of this company though they have been in exist- ence only a couple of months. In the absence of Miss Archer, captain of the 25th I.O.D.E. Co., Mrs. Lay)and read the very ex- cellent report of that company. Mrs. Small then read a most inspiring resume of the work and the aims of the local association, following which officers for the ensuing year were elected as fol- lows: Mrs. J. B. Leyland, secre- tary; Mrs. J. Reclden, treasurer; Miss Phillip, Miss McLean aml 51rs. Watson, badge committee. This concluded the& meevt)ng when tea was served by the host- ess. Mrs. W. D. AUTO PLUNGES INTO SEA AT SHERNANS L'arly on Tuesday mormng a large Chandler touring car was found in the water at a point where the Marine Drive skirts the waterfront near Shermans. It was badly smashed by the fall an&I had evidently been go- ing eastward when driven over the bank. Investigations were made at once, but no bodies were found in the water in the vicin- ity of the car, and all indications so far point to the fact that those in the car jumped out be- fore it took the plunge. The car is reported as the property of Captain T. T.
