Farewell Gathering in Honor of Miss Freda Gart horne On Friday evening last, Nrs. Lance Garthorne was the hostess to the Canadian Girls in Train- ing Groups of West Vancouver United Church. The occasion bemg a farewell social to her daughter, Fre&la," who has been a popular member of the groups for over four years, dur- ing two of which she held the office of senior president. A very happy evening was spent in games, and a contri- bution from each group formed a short and entertaining pro- gramme. A delightful supper was serv- ed at 9 o'lock, after which, in a few «feff chosen wokls the leader spoke appreciatively of Freda's association with her in the work. Miss Vivian Armstrong, on behalf of the girls, then pre- sented her with a teacher's Bible, as a mark of thetr love and good will. E. and five mem- bers chosen from the local branch of the Cnnadian Legion, and to them is given the work of disbursing among needy ex- service men an&I their depend- ents who arc resident in t municipality, the money obtai ed from the sale of popies.
