Vinson The most pleasing feature as- sociated with Christmas and New Year season, is the ex- change between friends of kind- ly greetings of good will and cheer. Throughout the civilized world this happy custom prevails, and in common with others, it is my sincere desire to take this op- portunity of extending to all cit- izens of West Vancouvter and their friends, the most cordial greetings and good wishes. It is good to remember on this festive occasion the lowly Nazarene whose coming inspir- ed the greatest of all precepts, "Peace on Earth, Good Will to- wards Man." It is timely also to recall that other message which reads, "Be ye not weary in well doing. The thought of these words a- rise in my mind in inditing this message. May we all therefore be filled with greater faith, hope and courage, conscious i n the righteousness of our mutual endeavors and convinced of the ~ ultsmata achievements, and may'your efforts 'during the coming year be filled with the desire for greater accomplishments. Slerrg KhrIsfmas All SIIr Keahrrs The privilege of extending to $fthe public of West Vancouver, both adults and juniors, the +i% Compliments of the Season, is indeed a pleasure. I wish you all a most hearty Christmas and a Prosperous and Happy New Year. West Vancouver is fortunate in its educational opportunities and in the remarkable growth of its school attendance. The pro- gressive spirit shown by our people generally and the co-op- eration given the Board of School Trustees has enabled the District to cope successfully with the demands made upon it for the teaching and guidance of the young people. For this happy condition I, as Chairman of the School Trustees, thank you,and trust that throughout the com- ing year this happy condition will continue. MAY B. ROBINSON, Christmas Greetings to All Residents of IVest Vancouver, both young and old; Health, Happiness and Prosperity in the «Ne~w~iLJt~y.~ed:bless~4~ everyone." ROBT. FIDDES, The Schools are now closed for the Christmas vacation, but the young folks are, no doubt, «4 still very active helping with the preparations for the Yuletide festivities. Our endeavor at this $j time should be to make others happier than we arp ourselves, and in achieving this, we get the real spirit of Xmas and will en- joy the season to the fulL Dur- ing Christmas celebrations let us think of our fellow-man with a genuine spirit of well-wishing, so that we may say honestly and with charity, "A Merry Christ- mas and Prosperous lilew Year." This is mv sincere wish to you all. ~ ~ 4 GERALD D. ELGAR, To the Residents of IVest Vancouver, I would like to ex- tend the old old wish "A iQerry PChristmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year." It is at this time of the year that our thoughts are taken back to our carefree childhood days and I would therefore ask those who are able, to assist the members of the School Board thrdughout the coming year in their en- deavor to give the children of IVest Vancouver all the advant- ages of a complete modern edu- cation, so that in future years when the children have taken P~ their place in the world they wi!l not on+ recall merry Christmas days but ivill also have pleasant memories of happy school days. Councillor W. M. Jackmen kfay the Spirit of Christmas pervade every )Vest Vancouver home, and, in the words of Tiny Tim:--"flay God Bless Each and P~ Everv One of You." A'&& A"5 A'a&A'a& A'0&M&A'O&A'a& A'SA'a& Aa&A'8 ~ Councillor J. T. Watt. In the capacity of one of your representatives I have much pleasure in extending to you all a very Merry Xmas and a pros- perous and Happy New Year. For the problems which con- front us today, nothing will bo of so much assistance as the Christmas Spirit carried into the coming year. There are many things that call for serious consideration in the future and with your con- tinued support, I will, as in the past do my utmost to further your interests during the year that lies ahead and trust that we may go forward and accomp- lish much in a spirt of co-opera- tion in 1928. Ghristmas Day Once more THE WEST VAN NEWS extends its heartiest greetings to its friends and readers, for a very Happy Christmas. The greatest thought is to keep the spirit of Christmas in the heart for every day in the year. It costs little to extend a good wish or a smile of kindness, and these are the soul of Christmas. "A MERRY HEART MAKETH A CHEERFUL COUNTENANCE" Thus it is written in the Old Testament. And so it is written on the faces of young and old today! In the twinkling eyes and happy smiles of those about us, we read fulfilment of the Christmas message. "PEACE ON EARTH, GOOD WILL TOWARDS MEN" Not only read it but understand. Yes, realise that it comes from hearts that bear no malice.--hearts that send forth Happiness and warmth of Love and Best Wishes to all mankind. So to all, let us be kind today and build for a resolution buttressed by kindness throughout the whole of 1928, but, let us specially remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves. The message of the Master is still as potent and effective in the whole of Christendom, as it ever was, when the Star was seen in the East, and the Wise Men came to the stable in Bethlehem. Two thousand years have swept over the world since the babe was born, and the meaning of the salvation of the world cannot be told too often to the people of today. Christmas is a time of re-generation. IVe should be glad to live and let live and to find untokl joys in giving with generous heart, feeling well repaid ifonly with a smile. To find happiness in making others happv- that is the "Spirit of Christmas." Entering into the spirit of this great occasion, we exterul "A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL" and in further appreciation and good will, we add "MAY YOUR GIFTS BE MANY AND YOUR JOYS KNOW NO BOUNDS." Councillor J. B. Leyland. During Christmastide most of us prefer to shun too much at- tention to the material things of life, to forget matters of con- tention, and with kindly hearts to forgive in others those frail- ties of human nature to which we are all subject. The festive season has again arrived, when good cheer and goodwill prevail, and when men and women throughout the world band together in fellowship, making life happier 'for little children, brighter for those af- fected in body and mind, and easier for those not well blessed in worldly goods. May this Christmas season bring to all our citizens the laughter of youth, the spirit of joy and peace, and a full measure of happiness, and may they en- joy good health and much pros- perity during the coming year. ~ 4»4 ~4. »4 A'~~~ M»V.»4 A~& P~g Pgg «~a&A&&V4~ WM»V.AS«Wo& W4 ~SSAo&W'.A'8 «VE.
