W Vancouver To remove scratches from furniture mix together in a bot- tle equal quantities of salad oil and vinegar. Take a small pad of soft rag, dip it into the so- lution and rub well into the ivood until all the scratches have disappeared. Then polish. Grease can be removed from the hair by washing it in warm water to which a teaspoonful of borax has been added. Cut up cucumbers, cauli- flowers and beans over night in salt water, using one pint salt to a gallon of water. In the morn- ing drain water off thoroughly and add onions. To every quart of vinegar used, add two cups of sugar, one quarter teaspoon cay- enne, one half teaspoon tumeric powder, one handful mixed pick- ling spice, piece of alum size of walnut. Scald all nnd then set away until morning; then set on stove until vinegar is warmed through. Warm up for five mornings, then store away in a stone jar. In using the rind of a lemon for flavoring pui7)uses, be care- ful not to use the white pith. It is only the yellow part that holds the oils; the white often imparts a bitter taste. CLASSIFIED ADS.
