A 660 cheque was presented by the lodge to Right Worshipful Brother A. E. Harron for the Orange Home for Children in NewWestminster, and he pre- sented the lodge in return )vith a beautiful new silk Union Jack from the 1926 officers. The tlag was unfurled by Sister Harron of the North Vancouver Auxil- iary and Sister Turner of Ruth I O.B.A., West Vancouver. Re- freshments were served and the remainder of the evening spent in dancing. An interesting program )vill be presented, and admission )vill be by 0 voluntary collection. Splendid service was given by West Vancouver Branch of the Red Cross Association during the Great War, and it is thought that its usefulness may again be developed in connection with its new policy, which will be briefly commented upon at this meet- ing. Arrangements have been ma&le by the Canadian Red Cross As- sociation to give a practical home nursing course of 12 lectures to the girls of the 1st West Van- couver Company, Girl Guides. FIRE AT WEST BAY Fire broke out Thursday morn- ing in one of the huts belonging to the Great IVorthern Cannery at West Bay. The fire brigade was on its &vay within a minute of the alarm being turned in, but on arrival found that the em- ployees of the cannery had put out the fire with their own chem- ical apparatus. A hole was burnt in the roof of the hut. WEST VAN RESTAURANT ihIAY DAY FETE On Thursday afternoon the pupils of the hlontesorrI School, 18th and Esquimalt, under the direction of Mrs. W. D. Fraser, their teacher, gave a delightful exhibition of kindergarten work comprising drills, folk dancing, mother goose impersonations, etc. The grounds were gayly dec- orated with flags, baloons and spring flowers. In the centre a may-pole a- round which the children danc- ed, to the delight of many par- ents and friends who were guests of the afternoon. Refreshments were sen ed from prettily decorated tea tables under the trees, a special "Nursery Table" for the child- ren being an atractive feature. Mix the vanilla essence and the cochineal in with your con- densed milk. Stir till the latter is a pale pink. Now stir your cocoanut into your milk until it forms a thick paste. Then roll the paste into as many medium- sized balls as it will make. Put the balls on a well-greased tin and place in a moderately hot oven until lightly browned. Then leave to cool. C. J.
