BE GA CITY pl B. c B. FL A NE3IORY TEST Some years ago, Nacready. the actor, and Foote the comedian, were discussing the question of 'memory', when Macrea&ly re- marked: once having heard any- thing he could easily repeat it, which Foote very much doubted. So Foote, to test him out, pro- pounded the following an&I asked Nacready to repeat it. "So she went into the garden to cut a cabbage leaf to make an apple pie and a great she-bear coming along the street popped his head into the barber shop aml said 'no soap'? aml then he died aml she very imprudently married the barber. And there were present the Joblillies and the Garcelies and the Great Pan- jandrum himself with the little round button at top and they all fell to playing the game of catch-as-catchwan until the gun- powder ran out of the heels of their boots." Needless to say the laugh was on Macready. &&nil c DEATH OF C. I'. I'ETTIT The death occurred on Friday of C P Pettit at his residence 18th an&I Fulton, after only 0 week's illness.
