001B6C8E THE WEST VAN NEWS ihtarch 2nth, 1927. Development of Ambleside Park and Beach At the meeting of the Board of Trade this vreek the question of developing a beach was dis- cussed, and it was unanimously'ecided to fully investigate the prop&keel made by the Ratepay- ers'ssociation some weeks ago. Presirlent Lorne E. ihiackenzie and 31r. Chance of the iNorth 'Vancouver Board of Trade, who were visitors at the meeting, took part in the discussion and gave assurances that any such development ivould have tl'e hearty support and assistance of North Vancouver City and District. A small committee was appointed to get in touch with the Ratepayers'ssocia- tion, with a view to obtaining further detailed information re- garding the propel they spons- ored, and. if p&msible, to work in c~peration to bring some such satisfactor) project tn fruition. Some time ago in these col- umns ive drew special attention to the suggestions and plans for the development of Amblesi&le Rark as outlined by a committee of the Ratepayers'ssociation. of which Mr. )V. R. Hamilton was the chairman. It is hoped that for the best interests of the community these two bodies can get together in co-operative work in furtherance of this nec- , essity. Fifteen miles of shore line with practically no beach nor bathing facilities is a condition vrhich should be quickly reme- died. It should be pointed out, also. that with the Lions'ate bridge practically assured, the sand that will be dredged to in- crease the width of the channel could be effectively utilized to make a sandy beach at Amble- side Park. If it is impossible for tl.e municipal council to under- take the expenditure necessary for the work, Iet us endeavour to put the development through hy public eifort. It is quite within the realms of possibility that some method can be ivorked out for the issue of stocks or bonds to cover this cost. bve commend this suggestion to the very seri- ous consideration of the Boarcl of Trade and the Ratepayers'ssociation, and to any other or- ganizations who may decide to see some such seaside attraction. Last Wednesday night Holly- burn Theatre was packed to the doors on the occasion of the Musical Society's concert, which was one of the greatest suc- cesses ever staged by this popu- lar and gifted choir. From all sides expressions of enjoyment were heard, and in the case of the performance of the Boys'hoirmuch wonderment and surprise was felt. In the de- velopment of these boys in so short a space of time Professor Morgan has excelled himself. IVhen it is remembered that it is only a few weeks ago that this choir was organized, it will be realized that the future for it as prophesied by their leader will be a brilliant one. The older members of the Musical Society have brought and will bring much fame and prominence to IVest Vancouver. It has been proven to be the best of the best of its kind, but with half decent co-operation of the parents of the boys, we believe that the Boys'hoir will ultimately be a strong contender for "the hall of fame." We congratulate Pro- fessor hforgan most heartily and sincerely. It is not within our province to develop into musical critics, hence we cannot analyze the ef- forts of the different artists, but, taken all in sll, the concert bill was a very pleasing one and the audience did not forget to show their approval and enjoy- ment.
