The Reeve and Coun- cil were present as well as repre- sentatives of the various pat- riotic and fraternal nrgnniaa- tinns in the municipality. Ilead- ed by the Salvation Army Cita- del Band, Brigadier-General H. F. NlcDonald. C.NI.G.. D.S.O.. and the members of the local branch of the Canadian Legion followed by the West Vancouver Girl Guides, marched from the Amblesida IVharf to the Memo- rial Arch. The service, which was in charge of Rev. A. Harding Priest, the chaplain of the local branch of the Canndian Legion, began with the singing of "0 Canada." Rev. A. M. O'Donnell read the leeson and the IVest Vancouver Musical Society. un- der Professor J. M. Morgan, ng the chorus "Soldier, Rest." After calling of the Roll of the Heroic Dead and the reciting of s prayer Brigadier-General H. F. IifcDonald gave an address, speaking of the lessons learnt in the war and the necessity of re- membering those lessons in the present days of peace. which he trusted would never be broken again by a call to arms. IVreaths were deposited on the Memorial from the Canadian Legion, I. O. D. E., the West Vancouver Horticultural Society, the L. O. L., No. 2990, the Girl Guides (two) and others. The service vras concluded by the singing of the National Anthem. The Legion and the Girl Guides marched back to the Am- bleside IVhnrf to the music of the Salvation Army Band, where the parade wss dismissed. The collection taken at the ser- vice amounted to 838.10, which, after the deduction of expenses incidental to the service, will go to the funds of the local branch of the Legion. West Vnn. L. O. L. IVilliamson, while on a trip through Franch last year, obtained some seeds from the poppies growing in the old Ger- man trenches at Thiepval, which have a black cross in the centre. He gave some to Mrs. Clarke, 25th snd Marine.
