Better29th July, 192G.The Editor, IVest Van. News: Dear Sir, As a taxpayer of this muni- cipality for nearly six years. I would like to protest against the condition of the sidewalk on the North side of hiarine Drive be- t&veen 13th and 14th. At pres- ent it is unsnfe to wnlk upon it. This sidewalk is being used and will be at all times, particularly by residents who go down to the stores to purchase goods or send their chil&lren to do so. One dny some child carrying home. say a pot of jam is going to fall and cut himself severely or break a leg, on this sidewalk or get stuck bet&veen the boards, which will cost our municipality a lot of money for damages. As a ratepayer, therefore, I would like to see the sidewalk put in shape without delay. Yours truly, C. J. OVERINGTON. REAL ESTATE AND INSURANCE 1429 hiarine Drive , Phone West 114 The insertion of a clause per- mitting the councils to change from the arc light to the new ornamental type of street lamps, when and wherever deemed nec- essary, was suggested for the B. C. Electric street lighting a- greement, at a joint meeting of the three North Shore councils hIonday night. The second ten-year term of this agreement between the North Shore and the B. C. Elec- tric is now ended and the meet- ing on Monday night was called to discuss possible amendments. Another clause proposed was that so much should be paid per light yearly, instead of so much per kilowatt hour, as previously agreed upon. It is probable that a request will also be made to shorten the agreement to five years instead of ten as this will allow more improvements in the street lighting. It was pointed out that this is an essential fac- tor in municipalities growing as rapidly as those on the North Shore. Expert advice on some tech- nical questions will be taken in reference to the agreement. The matter will again be con- sidered at another joint meeting next Monday night. West Vancouver entered into a new lighting agreement about two years ago, and Reeve David Morgan and Councillor K. A. Ray of that municipality, attended tonight'6 meeting in a watching capacity.
