July 16th, 1926 July 14th, 1926. Editor, West Van News: Dear Sir,--It was with great satisfaction that I read your article in a recent issue on the Cau(fci(d-Whytec(iff road scan- dal, and I trust you will keep on the job till the matter is cleared Up. I understand there has recent- gv been formed a Ratepayers'ssociationin West Vancouver, and I hope it will justify its existence by active c~peration with you to see that the inter- ests of the ratepayers are para- mount in this business. If I might make 3 suggestion --of course, it is merely a sug- gestion--it is that the Rate- payers'ssociation get disinter- ested legal advice, have the con- tract carefully examined. and see if there is any loophole by which the contractors can break their agreement. Then, if not, force them to finish their con- tract. The irony of the business is the appearance of a special IVest Vancouver supplement in The Province. The breaking of that contract will do more harm to West Vancouver than good could accrue from all the special sup- plements that could be published in B. C. It is not only the gen- eral disappointment of the resi- dents of IVest Vancouver that has to be considered, but the thousands of Greater Vancouver citizens and prospective visitors who have been looking forcvard to the completion of this road in the very near future. Then again there are many who have invested money right up from Caulfeilds to Whytecliff in anti- cipation of the opening up of the road, and I now suppose many projected building schemes will be abandoned on account of this stoppage. I trust the whole body of IVest Vancouver citizens will join to- gether and see that this contract is finished, and those who are New Subdivision By George Hay guilty of negligence are brought to book. The councillors are the custod- ians of the ratepayers'oney and interests, and. if they have been remiss in their duties--well they know the remedy. "KILORAN." July 11th InoG Editor, West Van News: Dear Sir,--I was glue( to see your article about Marine Drive IVhytcliff rond. It is time there was some action about that. and it would be very interesting to know who is responsible for placing such a contract. I don' think any other council in B. C. ivould place an ordor under such conditions. Can you not find time and space to give us more particulars so that we will know just where to place the blame. I am enclosing herewith 3 subscription to your paper. I cion't want to miss a single copy. It has always some interesting news. Yours sincerely, "CITIZEN." July 10, 1926. Editor, West Van News: Dear Sir,--I wish to take this opportunity of congratulating you upon your excellent little publication. It is 3 credit to you and to West Vancouver. Every- one I have spoken to so fry has nothing but words of praise for the IVest Van News. My own family look forward every week to its coming. I have read with much interest your remarks about the IVhytecfiff road. I agree with what you say that someone has blundered badly in this. They say now the road is to be finished in August. Maybe it will; maybe not. Anyhow I guess it will be finished before election time. Here's hoping! "DOUBTER." Mr. A.
