- Usually, a brain teaser, the question asked is "what are the three words in the English language ending with the letters "gry"?" The 2 most obvious are "angry" and "hungry." The other(s) is (are) less used or obsolete. "Aggry" or "aggri" is a somewhat infrequently used. Aggry applies to coloured, variegated glass beads of ancient manufacture, found buried in the ground in Africa. "Meagry" is, according to Oxford English Dictionary, so rarely used that it is virtually obsolete. Meaning: Having meagre appearance. "Puggry," more commonly spelled "puggree" or "puggaree," and also "puckery," "pukree," "pugree," "pugaree," "puggri," "pugrey," and "pagri" almost disqualifies this term as a "gry"-word. Means: turban, or a scarf wrapped around a hat or helmet. "Gry" is obsolete. Means: dirt under the nails, or a unit of measurement equalling 1/100th of an inch, or as a verb, to roar or to rage.
