West Vancouver Memorial Library Bernhard Lauser, Chair West Vancouver Memorial Library Board Strategic Plan 2006-2010 The Library has completed its strategic plan for the next five years. Development of the plan began in 2004 and included input from a variety of sources. In 2004, the Library conducted two surveys: a survey of customers in the Library over a one-week period and a random phone survey of West Vancouver residents. In late 2004 a Strategic Plan Working Group was formed. It included senior staff, Library Board members, and representatives from both the Friends of the Library and the Library Foundation. Staff were asked to develop a series of briefings for the Working Group on significant topics such as customer service and technology. Focus groups were held with staff and members of the public. After absorbing all of this information, the Working Group began developing the plan itself in spring of 2005. The resulting draft plan was presented to staff, the full Library Board and Council for comment and the final plan was adopted by the Library Board in July 2005. The plan is designed to be a living document and will undergo review. It will be the basis of the Library's annual business Plan. Our goal is to ensure that the Library continues in its role as a valued and important cornerstone of the community and grows to meet the challenges of the future. The new plan is available on the Library's website www. westvanlib.org under "About Us" or at Information Desks in the Library.
