West Vancouver Memorial Library Helen Davies, Chair West Vancouver Memorial Library Board On behalf of the WVML Board, I would like to acknowledge the work of two Board members who are stepping down. Past-Chair Mrs. Joan Creighton served on the West Vancouver Library Board for eight years. Prior to her appointment, she also served as a Director on the Library Foundation. During her time on the Library Board, Joan made a significant contribution to the community and her efforts are well appreciated. Thanks also to John Moonen for his contributions while on the Board in 2002. While we will miss the valued participation of these two individuals, we are confident that they will continue to take an active interest in the Library and continue to be enthusiastic WVM Library supporters and patrons. Other changes to the Board include the appointment of Ms. Sherry Parrott and Mr. Henry (Harry) Greenwood. We welcome them both and look forward to working together in the coming year. 2003 promises to be an exciting and busy year for the Library Board, as we finalize the Long Range/Strategic Plan, and, working in concert with the Chief Librarian and staff, consider how to maintain and enhance library services and programs in order to ensure that they reflect and respond to community need. We are looking forward to our presence, with the Bookmobile, at the new Gleneagles Community Centre, scheduled to open soon. We are pleased to support enhanced programming at the Library for adults, including hosting an anticipated Philosopher's Cafe and North Shore Writers' Festival, as well as continuing the Internet skills training. I feel honoured to have been elected Chair of the West Vancouver Memorial Library Board by my fellow trustees and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of our Library Community - the Volunteers, the Friends, the West Vancouver Memorial Library Foundation and the staff and, of course, the patrons, for their ongoing support. Together, we can be proud that the Library continues to be a well-loved and respected community treasure. We're Bringing the Library to You! The Bookmobile is adding two new weekly stops at the Gleneagles Community Centre. Step on board to check out this travelling library of books, videos, DVDs, CDs and more. Our friendly Bookmobile staff will take your requests for books from the main Library as well. We'll be there Tuesday afternoons from 2:30 to 4 pm and Thursday mornings from 10:15 am to noon. On Thursday mornings, one of the talented librarians from the Library's Youth Department will be inside the Community Centre Youth Room with Family Storytime Fun for all ages at 10:30 am. The Bookmobile has many public stops throughout the community - see if we are in your neighbourhood on the schedule :
