West Vancouver Memorial Library · Winter 2003 · Issue 1 We are trying something new. This newsletter will be published two or three times each year. It will include articles about the Library and what is going on. There will be a letter from the Chair of the Library Board and other articles written by staff. If you are looking for information about programs, please take a look at our new monthly calendar. It lists everything that is happening at the Library during the month with details such as times and dates along with how to register for programs. I hope you enjoy this new format. It will give us more room to tell you about the Library. Obviously we will be testing and refining for the next couple of issues. Be sure to give staff your comments so we can make this newsletter interesting and informative for you. North Shore Writers' Festival This year's Festival will take place in all three North Shore public libraries during the nation-wide Canada Book Week. It is being sponsored by the Friends of the West Vancouver Memorial Library along with the North Vancouver City and District Libraries. Displays in all libraries will showcase the work of local and other Canadian authors. There will be readings, a screen-writing workshop, a poetry session and a literary contest. The writers to look forward to are novelists Timothy Taylor, Gail Anderson-Dargatz and Marilyn Bowering; wilderness dweller Chris Czajkowski; travel writers Michael Buckley and Jack Christie; poet Lorna Crozier and screen-writer Michael Thoma. Come and plan on meeting some of Canada's finest writers. We suggest that Book Club members take this opportunity to read books by Canadian writers and enjoy the chance to meet and chat with the author. Please contact the West Vancouver Memorial Library's Information Desk for more details. Events will be free but registration will be required.
