4 Issue 185, May 2006 West Vancouver Memorial Library AUTHOR VISITS - Edda Davis Three authors visited the West Vancouver Library during the North Shore Writers' Festival. Jack Whyte, who is a charismatic speaker, took us back to the timeless story of King Arthur in a realistic historical context in his Dream of Eagles series. He does his research by reading other writers and really enjoys his literary life. The second author was Jean Barman who read from her well researched book Stanley Park. This is a fascinating story about the inhabitants of the park who were displaced in order to create an urban oasis, this at a time when most of Vancouver was covered by forest. The third author was Peter Robinson. This was standing room only. He is author of the Alan Banks mystery series, amongst many other writings. In typical British low-key fashion he read from his book, which was very enjoyable, later answering questions and signing copies of the books. The Friends of the Library volunteers served coffee, tea and punch on each occasion. Thanks to Cathie Clinch, Rosemin Ebrahim, June Harris, Diane Reid, and Kim Vogt for all their support. Friends are also welcome to attend the Library Board meetings which are held on the 3 Wednesday of the month at 7 PM in the Peter J. Peters Room.
