NEWSLETTER Issue 180 September 2005 West Vancouver Memorial Library SEPTEMBER BOOK SALE The semi-annual book sales are indeed labour intensive, not just at sale time but throughout the year. We are fortunate to have an irrepressible "Pit Crew" who volunteer innumerable hours sorting through the discards and donations. These Friends, some of who have been doing this work for years, are the backbone of our book sales, and we are extremely grateful for their contribution: Kay Alsop, Noreen Avery, Barbara Drummond, Juliet Janes, Peggy Keene, Wanda Osborne, Brendan Rowell, and Patricia Treadwell. A tremendous job was performed by the indispensable set-up crew with help from our maintenance team. Approximately 540 very heavy boxes of books were trundled up from the basement and after the sale, the unsold stock was boxed and returned to the basement to be sorted and picked up by the Richmond Rotary Club. Thank you to so many Friends and spouses who went the extra mile along with extra shifts: Kay Alsop Ken Barlow Noreen & Ron Avery Irene Caudwell Marvin Childs Brendon Rowell Kate Dillon Wayne Leigh-Spencer Maureen Eagle Herb Lloyd Rosemin & Mohamed Ebrahim Natalie Logan Lindsey Lorence Irene Esson Ian Loudon Marie Evans Ron Lucas Roy Geldhart Arden McLaughlin Barry Griblin Elsa O'Connor Noelene Harland Wanda Osborne Peggy Keene Gloria Richardson Ted & Grace Kravac Joanna Scott Sophia Weremchuk Kim Vogt Thank you to the Library staff for their much appreciated support and patience with the disruption to their daily routine, and especially to the maintenance staff for assisting with the set-up, ensuring the banners were displayed, and for collecting the much needed boxes.
