LIBRARY BOARD LIAISON Friends warmly welcomed Fanny Patterson, who will be our new Library Board Liaison. We look forward to seeing her at our meetings. Fanny spoke enthusiastically about BOOKtopia, the West Vancouver Children's Literature Festival to be held in May. Events are to be held at the Kay Meek Centre for the Performing Arts. ART RECEPTION The exhibition on January 7th entitled "Idiosyncratic Environments", featured Danaca Ackerson and Deanna Fogstom. Despite the inclement weather conditions and poor attendance, they sold two paintings. Fortunately for the Friends, Kim Vogt , Michelle Sproule and Lorna Rush persevered and the guests were served refreshments. Great job Kim, the mailman has nothing on you! TREASURER'S REPORT Ian Loudon reports our Book Cart revenue from December 10th to February 11, 2005, totalled - $1796. General Account Balance - $13,908. Gaming Account - $37. An interpretive dance group is to accompany the reading of author Nick Bantock. This event will be held at our Library. Also approved is a $300 contribution to the Library to help defer the costs associated with the preparation of our newsletter i.e. paper, envelopes, printer toner, postage. BOOK CART REPLENISHING Co-ordinator Patricia Treadwell reported the $$ success of our book cart has led to replenishing on a daily basis. Welcome to Rosemin Ebrahim and Jennie Skulski who are also library volunteers. Elsa O'Connor will be stepping in for Bee Barker who is retiring from the cart, a job Bee has been doing since its inception. The excellent location of the cart which captures library patrons as they come and go has definitely contributed to its success. Our apologies to Hangemeh Soofi and Elsa O'Connor who were overlooked in February's newsletter.
