NEWSLETTER Issue 173 November 2004 West Vancouver Memorial Library REMEMBRANCE DAY LEST WE FORGET Thursday, November 11th 2004 November 11th has always been an important day in West Vancouver, a special day when the community takes time to remember and honour those who gave their lives for us during the 1939-1945 War, and for whom our Library is a memorial. The Friends again sponsored and hosted the traditional reception immediately following the parade and service at the Cenotaph. We served refreshments to approximately 720 in attendance. Under the direction of Grace Tietz, the Dundarave Players provided an enjoyable musical interlude, and song sheets were available so everyone could join in the "sing-along". Eileen de Bues was responsible for the overall planning, organization and management of the reception, with help from Natalie Logan who assisted and co-ordinated the volunteers. Brendan Rowell was in charge of renting the supplies, Sophia Weremchuk organized the refreshments and Grace Kravac ensured the flowers were appropriate for the occasion. To all the Friends who contributed to the success of the reception a heartfelt "thank you".
