AUTHOR VISITS Friends provided the refreshments for the May 15, special event, "Creating a Scrapbook Album" with Shannon Spencer. In Shannon's words, a photo album should be referred to as an album of "creative memories" or "Life Album with Heart", and not a "scrapbook". Many useful tips and ideas were presented. Sophia Weremchuk was the hostess for the evening. Ellen Hayakawa author of "The Inspired Organization: Spirituality and Energy at Work" offered suggestions for practical and creative ways for living our spirituality. During her visit on the evening of June 9, the Friends providing refreshments were Edda Davis and Eileen de Bues. CROQUET TOURNAMENT The West Vancouver Memorial Library Foundation hosted another successful croquet tournament on Friday, May 30, at Ambleside Park. Our thanks to Friends, Lillian Chow and Grace Kravac who assisted at the registration desk. ART RECEPTIONS "The Multicultural Dialogue" by Lani Jeffrey, reception was held on Friday June 6. Friends hosting were Nan Dickie, Edda Davis, Eileen de Bues, Lillian Chow and Kim Vogt. It was a great evening, well attended, good food and of course the Friends' special punch was again the drink of choice.. Kim Vogt, Art Reception Chairperson, is looking for Friends to help host the Art Receptions . If you are interested please call Kim at 604-922-1359. Art Gallery receptions are held the first Friday of each month. Helpers are required from 5-8 p.m. and duties include set up, the making of beverages, serving and clearing up. NORTH SHORE WRITERS' FESTIVAL Pam Douglas, Festival Coordinator attended our meeting to personally thank the Friends for not only providing funds to support the festival but for our time serving ref reshments at some of the events. According to the North Shore Writers' committee it was a very successful festival. Thank you Pam for the box of Purdy's chocolates - they were enjoyed by all in attendance.
