NEWSLETTER Issue 158 February 2003 West Vancouver Memorial Library ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Our AGM Luncheon meeting on January 22nd was a great success. Prior to the meeting those present enjoyed a tasty luncheon catered by the Seniors Activity Centre. It turned out to be a great social and business meeting. Elected as our Society Directors for 2003: President Sophia Weremchuk Vice President Grace Kravac Secretary Barbara Drummond Treasurer Ian Loudon Membership Maureen Eagle Our special thanks to the Nominating Committee: Eileen de Bues, Natalie Logan and Brendan Rowell for performing a difficult and responsible task . We welcome our new Director, Grace as Vice President and our congratulations to Barbara on her appointment as our Secretary. We wish all the Directors a successful and fulfilling year. A sincere thank-you to those members who have taken responsibility for our various working groups and activities, each of whom made reports at the AGM. We are very sorry to see our so competent Secretary, Patricia Treadwell step down from the executive. We could always count on Patricia, who for 6 years so capably recorded the proceedings of our meetings and within days had them printed and ready for review. Streamlined efficiency was her motto. Patricia was forever looking for "an easier or better way of doing things". Although Patricia plans to travel even more, she wants to stay in the "loop" and keep active with the Friends. Enjoy your travels Patricia and I know you will be helping us when you are in town. Again from all of us. Thank You. With their previous year's donation of $750.00 the Library was able to purchase 15 audio books because the wholesaler gave the Library a 50Yo discount on all of them. These books are quite "pricey" and list price is as high as $158.00 with most costing about $79.00. So the 50% discount made quite a difference. Along with the North Shore taped-book patrons and Library Staff we thank the Kiwanis Club for their support which is most appreciated. Kiwanis Club of Capilano has been generously supporting this program since 1998.
