Our luncheon meetings are proving to be popular as they allow time for socializing as well as for business. Thank you Peggy Keene for joining the Friends and for coming out to our October meeting, it was indeed a pleasure to meet you. The November 27th meeting is the last before our AGM in January so join us with your lunch. TREASURER'S REPORT Our Treasurer Ian Loudon presented the Financial Statement to October 23, 2002 General Account $26,671 Expenses 71 Total Funds $26,600 Gaming Account: $798 BOOK CART SALES Sales are exceeding our expectations. For the period September 23 to October 23, 2002 we took in $1024. This is our best month since we introduced the Book Cart in October 1999. FRIENDS FUNDING Approved for payment: Shelving for periodicals <& videos $1456.15 (in the Youth Section) New Signs for CD bins $1084.32 Heavy duty vacuum for maintenance. $1090.00 We estimate Friends' total funding for 2002 = $18,000. IN MEMORY It is with great sadness that we have to inform the Friends of the recent passing of Marion Nodwell. Despite her recent illness Marion continued to provide the Library with beautiful floral arrangements. Most of the blossoms were from her own garden and she would regularly stop in to water and replenish the arrangements. Marion never ceased to amaze us with the creativity and elegance of the arrangements that were so very much enjoyed and appreciated by everyone. Her special gift helped make the Library just a little more special in our Community. In December 2000, the North Shore News featured Marion as one of the "Silent Heroes" -how appropriate.
