CROQUET TOURNAMENT The Library Foundation's Annual Fund Raising Croquet Tournament was held on June 7th, and two Friends were there to volunteer their services. Marguerite Cassetta and Natalie Logan worked on the Registration Desk. AUTHOR VISITS The June 3rd evening visit to the Library of Author Sharon Promislow was well received. Friends Maureen Eagle, Herzl Lowenstein and Arden McLaughlin were there to provide and serve the tea and cookies. The next Author visit is on the 11th of July when Brady Fotheringham talks about his book "On the Trail of Marco Polo: along the Silk Road by Bicycle." These events are free - phone the Library to reserve your seat. FRIENDS' FUNDING The May meeting saw the Friends approve most of the Library's "wish list" for 2002. We voted to fund the following: Web Page Updates: $3,000 Window Seat Rebuild & Recovering: $1,900 Youth Services Shelving: $1,400 Signs for CD Bins: $650 Four Loveseats to be Rebuilt: $6,400 Puzzle Table: $900 Picture Book Display Racks: $1,100 for a Total of $15,350 The request from the library for the BBC Shakespeare DVD Collection ($5,200) will be reviewed later in the year. The Chief Librarian wishes to thank the Friends -- " The ability to buy small items is very important and so appreciated." IN THE GALLERY Artists Barbara Mathews and Lori Tjorhom had a very successful Artist's Reception that was held on the 7th June and FriendsGrace Kravac, Arden McLaughlin and Kim Vogt were in charge of refreshments. The paintings will be on display until June 30th. BOOK SALE The next big book sale will be held in the Fall. Once again, please save your unwanted books, records, CD's and puzzles to stock our Book Cart and the Book Sales. We would particularly appreciate paperback books - maybe some of your "summer" reading or books your guests have left behind? All welcome! Any items can be left for the Friends at the Library's Circulation desk. Thank you for your help.
