VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION RECEPTION At the Volunteer's reception on the 18th of April, the Friends received a plaque in appreciation of their 50 years of service. On hand to accept the plaque were Sophia Weremchuk and Maureen Eagle. We were pleasantly surprised to have been so acknowledged. Our plaque is to be hung above the bulletin board on the main floor. It reads: "West Vancouver Memorial Library CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION Awarded to The Friends of the Library IN APPRECIATION OF THEIR DEDICATED VOLUNTEER SERVICE AND THEIR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE LIBRARY. Presented by Ann Goodhart, Chief Librarian April 18, 2002" RECOGNITION AWARDS Individual Friends also received recognition for their work with the Volunteers. BEE BARKER -"Heart is in the Right Place" A recognition program sponsored by North Shore Community Services. This special recognition is in honour of Bee's continued dedication to the library as a volunteer. After more than 12 years of volunteering, Bee stands as one of our most knowledgeable and experienced volunteers. Her commitment to staying informed about changes at the library and her ability to do any and all the volunteer tasks makes her a most valued volunteer. She continues to be a great supervisor and possesses excellent teamwork skills as she works with each of the three volunteer shifts. Her warmth and caring is admired and appreciated by all who work with her. Bee has also been a long time working member of the Friends and we too agree that she is someone whose heart is in the right place. Congratulations Bee on receiving this most worthy recognition. Library Home Service Coordinator Janet Phillips expressed her appreciation to several very special Friends of the Library. To HARRO WEGNER for regularly and reliably delivering bags of books to patrons. Thursday morning has become a "just like Christmas" time for many who are unable to come into the library. She also offered a big thank you to WANDA OSBORNE and BARBARA DRUMMOND "who always respond enthusiastically to my requests for deliveries. Not only do they find time out of their busy days for delivering books and chatting with patrons, but they also manage to locate some of the more obscure addresses! Thanks again for generously giving your time to this valuable and greatly appreciated Library Service".
