LIBRARY BOARD It is with sadness that we say good-bye to Jim Turpin, Chair WVML Board and Juanita Tupper, Vice Chair WVML. It was always such a pleasure to have one of them attend our meetings and keep us informed. Both Jim and Juanita have been tremendous supporters of the Friends and we will miss them. I quote from Jim's letter "As my term as Chair concludes, please accept my sincere thanks to you and the Friends for the enormous amount of time and effort you have given to the Library. It is very much appreciated". Juanita expressed the same sentiments in person. We wish them well. We welcome from the Library Board and a new member of the Friends, Karen Carlson. We look forward to the same relationship with Karen. BOOK EVENT February 7, 2002 " A Map for the Journey" by Nan Dickie. There was a full house for this event and Nan Dickie didn't disappoint those who attended the presentation. Friends, Natalie Logan and Sophia Weremchuk were on hand to serve the refreshments. Nan herself baked most of the goodies. We made the evening a little special with table cloth, punch bowl, cups and saucers. The guests were pleasantly surprised . Nan was so appreciative that she sent a lovely "thank you note" and two pots of flowers - a wonderful kind gesture, thank you from Natalie and Sophia. We are delighted that Nan is also a Friend of the Library so it was fitting that we were there for her event. IN THE GALLERY Ken Prescott, "The Art of Collage", was the artist at the reception on Friday, March 1. The Friends served coffee and tea, and punch with the latter being the most popular. Refreshments were also provided. It was a fun evening and the hosting by Friends, Noreen Avery, Irene Esson and Sophia Weremchuk was greatly appreciated by the artist and guests. The next meeting of The Friends will be on Wednesday March 27th 2002 At 7:00 p.m. in the Library's Peter J. Peters Room CHECK US OUT ON THE WEB For those of you with Web access, log on to the Library's site at www.westvanlib.org; click on Library Community and then on Friends of the Library at the bottom of your screen.
