NEWSLETTER Issue 144 May 2001 West Vancouver Memorial Library IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH Book Sale Postponed Regrettably, we are having to postpone our June 8th /9th Book Sale until further notice. At this time we simply don't have the variety of books needed for our usual high profile book sale. As you may be aware, our Library is upgrading shelving in the West Wing and Mezzanine areas of the library to meet current seismic codes. Unfortunately for us, but understandably, our Library is discarding books by collection groupings. What this means is that we mainly have boxes of Large Print and Foreign Language books, not exactly the variety needed for a high profile book sale. We are monitoring the discards on a daily basis and should the situation change, we may have a mini sale at the end of June. We will keep you informed. As mentioned in our previous newsletter, since the Library's basement is not available for our traditional large June book sale, we are considering having three or four smaller book sales during the year. Again, if you know of any organization that may be interested in Large Print, Foreign books, or books left over from our last book sale, please do contact Barbara Drummond at 922-7658 . Thanks to the Friends who have helped find a home for some of the books. Keep up the good work. TREASURER'S REPORT Treasurer, Ian Loudon, presented the Friends Financial Report for April 2001.
